Sad my pet store closed

I'm sad the pet store i used to go to closed. It was the only place in San Diego that carried fancy mice (besides petco). Before that, my other mousie provider closed.

I drove down there today, having my eye on a black/white fox doe i saw in there a week ago. and BAM, closed permanently.

It wasn't the best... my females usually came pregnant, which means the owner doesn't sex them carefully, but they were a hundred times better than petco. Every mouse i have gotten from petco had either died, or had an URI, or really strange behavior.

I've called around, only feeders everywhere else. I'm not in a rush, i have plenty of little friends now.... but i'm worried if this will be my last round, since i wont have 15 mice in 2-3 years (short life spans).

How do people contact breeders? Maybe this is opportunity for me to find and contact a reputable breeder since all my easy options have disappeared. If only I knew where to look.

I think there's a small animal rescue near San Diego that always has mice on PetFinder. com.

There is a forum for mouse breeders (fancymicebreeders.com), maybe you could ask around on there?

I sometimes find mice on Gumtree and other websites where people advertise pets for sale. Not sure what websites are equivalent in the U.S though.
