Help! I do not know whats wrong with her.
I found her on the construction site 6 days ago under my excavator so obviously I couldn't leave her there so I brought her home that night. The first 24 hours was 100% electrolytes and then slowly introduce the Enfamil formula. I do have a heating pad in a container set on low and temps are checked, I also feed her every 2 hours. After the 4th day she was peeing and pooping without an issue, so its now 100% premix formula. Everything seems fine and she's very energetic (specially when picked up) BUT she seem so skinny for a regular mouse. So my question is, I'm I doing this correctly or is this not a mouse?
I'm getting nervous and don't want to loose her, any tips or help is very appreciated.
- Thank you

Hello. Awww, poor girl, she is quite thin. I'm wondering if she is a rat and not a mouse. Her head looks big for a mouse. Or maybe it just looks that way since she is skinny. There is a section on here about wild mouse care, but I'm not sure exactly where it is. There are other members here that would be a better help than me on this subject. Hopefully someone else will respond soon.

I just saw that the section at the top of the page on emergency care is for wild mouse care. Have you checked that out? Even if she does turn out to be a rat, you would most likely do the same care as a baby mouse.

Oh, poor sweet angel. Everything you need to know if here: https://www.petmousefanciers.com/t4-wild-mouse-mice-care-and-information
She is very thin and I think you have a little rat on your hands, but the care is the same. She should be eating KMR formula every two hours around the clock. You have a big heart to try to save her, but most often these cases end in heartache. Babies that small need their momma but every now and then we have a success story!

I just switched to KMR as soon as you sent this, the first feeding I did with KMR was 50% electrolytes 50% KMR until 4 feedings im going to do 100% KMR. Does this sound correct to transition formula?

She's slowly gaining weight but getting wee more bloated. For some reason most of this weight is going straight to her belly and a little more to the arms and legs. But other than that she seems good. I hope she makes it, every time now I open the lid for feeding she pops out like a bullet landing in my hand squirming all over the place XD its the cutest thing

Re: Help! I do not know whats wrong with her.
It's not unusual for them to get fat in the belly. As long as she's eating, peeing and pooping, and on the right diet...i wouldn't be concerned.

I'm happy to hear she is eating and doing better! I've had rats in the past and they are truly wonderful pets. They have so much personality and really bond with their person. They are like having a tiny dog.

I'm hoping this tiny cutie pulls through! You're going to have one bonded little one at the end of this
