Last weekend my dad and I tried out how Salma bins do under the jigsaw, and I was upset to see that it made the plastic crack. Any tips to prevent this? Thanks! <3

I use a glass  cutter tool and careful trace out the window.  You could also have your dad just use a box cutter, slow and steady.  It will take a few passes but it won't crack.  Also be gentle drilling the ventilation holes as well, those can crack too.

In the past I've used a box cutter (utility knife). And you have to go slow and just keep going over the same spot. Something that helps is to heat up the knife to go through the plastic easier. Hope this helps.

My husband used an air powered pencil grinder (I think it's called?) on my last bin cage. Worked really great. Zero cracking. Pretty smooth edges too.

That's part of the reason I don't have a zillion bin cages... Cutting windows were always a challenge with my little butter knife heated over the stove. lol Tried a Plexiglas knife once and the whole thing ended up cracked once I ran out of patience. Laughing

I've seen dremels recommended, apparently the disc gets heated enough to melt the plastic a bit and not cause cracking. Or something. Don't Know

I actually got a lighter and burned a hole through the lid of my bin cage large enough for strong scissors to go into and I started cutting from the hole all around the lid back to the starting point.
