Head tilt help

last night, I noticed that one of my mice (I have two females) has developed a head tilt. She is still eating, drinking, and running on her wheel, but she has trouble balancing and she keeps falling over. I did some research and I think she has an ear infection. If I need to take her to a vet I will, but is there anything I can do at home? Any medicine or ear drops I could give her without going to the vet? Or is there any chance this could clear up on its own? Also, is there any chance my other mouse could catch this? Thanks!

Head tilts need a vet. It could either be a neurological problem or an ear infection, but if it came on suddenly and the mouse isn't running in circles, it's most likely an ear infection. Left untreated, not only are they painful but it can cause permanent damage. If treated quickly, the head tilt usually goes away. I've never heard of an ear infection clearing up on its own. It needs prescription antibiotics from a vet.

Thanks for responding. When I came home from school I went to check on pippa (my mouse) and her head tilt seems to be MUCH better. Should I still take her to the vet or should I wait just a little longer to see if it will clear up?

I would still go to the vet. Ear infections are painful and will need an antibiotic.

UPDATE: I was planning on taking pippa to the vet tomorrow (it was the soonest I could get to a mouse safe vets office because there aren't any close to me) , but she has completely stopped tilting her head. She is still eating and drinking and being cuddly. I was holding her just a few minutes ago, and I noticed that her eye seems to have a small cut right under it. It is very small and pinkish red. She has been cleaning her face more often than usual so I don't know if that would have to do with this. Is it at all possible that she was tilting her head because of this? She isn't really acting sick or under the weather, but I have been keeping a closer eye on her since I noticed her tilting her head. I feel awful for not noticing it sooner, but is there anything I can do to make it go away? I read neosporin is ok for mice, but I didn't know if it is ok that close to her eye. Thanks!

Head tilt is usually caused by an ear infection. I'm glad she seems better, but I personally would keep the appointment. It's not worth the risk if the infection is still there. The thing with mice is, as a prey animal, they hide pain and illness very very well.
As for the cut, it may be from her messing with the ear/face because its hurting her. If it's scabbed over and looks ok, I'd just leave it be.
