Hello. So all three of the mice- Benny, Barney, Lola- have an uri. Boo.

About a week ago I noticed Benny was sneezing alot. I had just bought a new bedding (aspen), so I assumed she was allergic. I removed the bedding and replaced it with their usual stuff (a kaytee clean and cozy knock-off). This was Thursday or Friday. Benny's sneezing continued and so I was getting worried it was more than allergies. I kept watching, and sure enough, on Monday, she was making clicking noises. And so was Lola. Lola wasn't sneezing, but she was very loudly clicking. I called the vet and brought all 3 of the girls in. After listening to them she confirmed ALL of them had URIs (though Barney was showing no physical symptoms). We got our antibiotics, and I already see a difference in Benny.

So my question is if there is anything I can give the mice that is a natural antibiotic, or anything to help strengthen their immune system?

Please know I am not looking for something to replace their antibiotics - we will continue with those. Just looking for things to help them heal and stay strong even after they are done their treatments.

If you are concerned that they aren't handling the antibiotics well, or just want something to strengthen their immune system, many vets can give you some probiotics. When my Autumn had a respiratory infection, the veterinarian prescribed both antibiotics and probiotics for her, the probiotics cost less than the antibiotics and helps replenish good bacteria in their immune system, which helps them fight the illness better. Hope your mice heal well!

Yes, I was thinking something along those lines. I actually have probiotics already.

For example: raw garlic an/or tea tree oil can be a natural antibiotic in humans (I am sure there are other animals already). I am thinking something along those lines.

Again, I am not looking at replacing their antibiotics- they are on baytril and will take the full course prescribed by the vet.

Thank you.
