Ori's birthday (we are guessing) is sometime in November too.

Re: What are you doing today?
Today I am basking in the warm glow of joy generated by my beloved Chicago Cubs winning their first World Series in 108 years! They had to play into extra innings and endure a short rain delay before besting the Cleveland Indians -- in Cleveland! -- well after midnight. It was a wonderful game with everything a true fan would want: stellar pitching (considering how intense this series has been and how overworked both pitching staffs were), timely and dramatic hitting, stunning fielding plays, a blown save in the bottom of the 8th inning to let Cleveland tie the score, two Cubs runs scored in the top of the 10th inning, one Cleveland run scored in the bottom half and my favorite Cub, first baseman Anthony Rizzo, making the final put-out of the game for the win. I've been waiting for this to happen for decades -- it's even more of a miracle than the 1969 Miracle Mets -- so I can die happy as there's nothing else to shoot for :-).

Re: What are you doing today?
Appreciating that I have had my mice for months now, and I have not encountered any serious problems! Obstacles, yes, but not problems

I get to hang out with my cousin's two year old while she's out of state! We came back here and he got to meet Yoshi (he wanted to pull his tail, poor mouse) and now he's camping out on the floor with the dog. He thinks the dog is the best. She ate his cookie. I guess he doesn't like my cookies. My daughter likes my cookies.

Re: What are you doing today?
Sounds like fun. My great nephews always wear me out when they come here. They're 2 and 1. I used to think I missed those toddler days but now.....not so much.

Lol, he's definitely helping us with our "Reasons to not have another" list. He's so fun though. He was watching videos on my phone and he kept telling the cat, "Look, look!" lol
More off topic, but we came across these on youtube while looking for videos for him to watch.

I'm not much of a baby person, but toddlers and little kids I love can't wait to have kids some day.
Great video by the way

Re: What are you doing today?
Just got back from annual Scout Geology Badge Day, held for two hours prior to the Museum's usual opening time. For the past several years, I've done a presentation on volcanoes and when it's over, the Webelo Scouts label the parts of a volcano on their packet sheets to turn into their pack leaders for credit toward their Geology Badge or Pin. This year, due to space constraints, I wasn't able to do a timed talk with a Q&A session in a sit-down environment and so came up with "Volcano Trivia" instead. The kids (and parents) seemed to enjoy the interaction and right answers were rewarded with a small piece of bagged obsidian. They still had to label the volcano handout for credit so we set up a second table with colored diagrams for them to use as guides. This set-up was far more enjoyable for me as I was stationed near other Geology Day presenters: how to determine mineral hardness, build your own egg-carton rock collection, etc. When the event was over and we were all packing up, I even managed to roll over and put together an egg-carton collection for myself...as if I needed any more specimens!!

Re: What are you doing today?
Ooh, Volcano Trivia sounds fun!!
Today I was sooo tired, I think most people I babbled at were lost. But some days ago two local police officers were murdered, so today we went to see the memorials for them. And we decorated the trees. The whole block is wrapped in blue ribbon! It's kind of neat to see everyone so supportive.

Re: What are you doing today?
Worrying. Worrying and angst. For the last few months, my elderly BooDog has been declining (going blind, deaf, losing sense of smell and showing signs of difficulty breathing and doggie senility such as not being able to find her doggie door or find me when I'm right next to her) but this past weekend was a major downhill skid for her as she is now exhibiting signs of pain. Thankfully, my vet will make a house call for home euthanasia so a trip to the vet's office is one less trauma to have to put my poor old girl through. I spoke to Dr Danner today and she told me to call her when the Boo and I were ready. After talking to her, I felt encouraged and decided to hold off for a while but this evening my poor girl has had a few episodes where she just sits and yelps shrilly, pulling her head down and to one side so I'll call the vet in the morning to see what evening she can come over after the practice closes. There is a local pet mortuary that I used almost 12 years ago when my prior dog passed: they do home pick ups 7 days a week, from 8am to 6pm, so I would be able to have her picked up the following morning for cremation. Worrying. I selfishly don't want to lose her but know that I must. Worrying and angst even though I know I'm doing the right and humane thing.

Re: What are you doing today?
I'm sorry about your BooDog. Knowing that it's coming is such a horrible feeling. The night before I finally took my kitty to be put to sleep was a nightmare. I hope you're both getting in some quality time together.
My major is environmental science/conservation, so sometimes we get to take field trips to fun places like nature reserves. On my way out I drove past these guys, they were right by the fence. First it was just one but the other two came up when I started taking pictures. I hope they weren't expecting food. lol
I wonder if our zoo has a petting area, I bet my daughter would love it. It's been a loooong time since we went to our zoo, we usually go to the one in the state next door. Hmm.
They look so soft!!!

Aw, I'm so sorry about Boo Dog. I really struggle with putting animals to sleep, too... even though I believe that it is a peaceful and humane way to go. Of course, I also struggle with watching them suffer. It's all just awful.
Enjoy your time together

I'm so sorry about BooDog, Mesa. If it counts for anything, I think you're making the right decision. *Hugs.*
