Please help my figure out how to convince my parents to get me a mouse
Hi, so I have always liked mice, and have started (For the past year) to really want one as a pet. My parents say no, and there are a few issues with me getting a mouse.
1. My mother doesn't like mice, she has come up with a thousand faulty excuses, but mostly she says that they have creepy snake tails and will escape.
2. I already have a pet, a dwarf rabbit who I have taken care of for the past 5 years.
3. My older sibling who shares my room, also has several pets. A cockatiel and two zebra finches.
4. We also have some family pets, a dog and cat, my mother believes we have too many pets and that is why she will not let us get anymore.
5. Our multitude of pets are all well cared for, and my sibling and I do the majority of the work regarding their care.
However,
She has given my other sibling (I have multiple) permission to get a hamster. The only requirement is that they earn enough money to pay for the hamster them self. However, they cannot seem to earn more then five dollars without spending it on the first thing they see. So they will never get a hamster. My mom still won't let me get a pet, because it is my little siblings turn.
I have offered that each of us get a mouse, and she still says no. I have offered to keep my mice in my sister's room, she says no. My dad says no too. Mostly, because my sibling could get a hamster. I already have enough money saved to buy the mouse, and we already own a cage.
She did say we could each get a hamster, but not if she needed to buy another cage. That idea didn't work though, since hamsters will kill each other, and need a larger cage. Mice on the other hand, are very cute, and love each other. Also, I would prefer having mice to having hamsters, because I like mice better.
Are there any other ideas on what I should do?

you could try showing her some cute videos of other peoples mice and show her that you can teach them tricks (like jumping through hoops and agility courses) this is how i convinced my parents because they thought it was pretty cool haha.
you should also learn anything and everything you need to know about mice and every day just randomly say a fact about them, show your parents that you are really interested in this animal.

I tried that, my mom knows they can learn cool tricks, and that I have done tons of research. She says that I cannot get a mouse, since she doesn't want a mouse. She has been very hard to convince.

Re: Please help my figure out how to convince my parents to get me a mouse
I know just the tricks. My mom wouldn't accept me getting a mouse for months, but I had gotten everyone else in my family hooked - so she couldn't say no. What I did was for a few months was write tons and tons of research, so she knew I was putting the initiative in. I actually managed to get her to read half of it, and in all I wrote about 30 pages. At first, I wanted a ferret - but was yelled at for even suggesting it.
In fact, she had to get me a mouse anyway. It was perfect timing for my science fair in school, and I wanted to do a maze that was mouse related. This had angered her into buying one. I begged her every single day, and I kinda have a way with words that it seems persuasive. So, in the end I had gotten my mouse. It is not as easy as it seems - some mothers actually impulsively buy mice for their children, saying, "Oh, this will be good for my child for a few days!" which is obviously not good.
Also, maybe get something a little more acceptable on your mothers level? What I mean is - if you have so many pets that are quite large for smaller rodents, you should be allowed to get another. But, getting a mouse would be a great idea.

Even if she doesn't like mice, I think you should be allowed to have them. Tell her she doesn't have to have anything to do with the mouse; it will be all yours to take care of. Mice are sort of like skinny hamsters with longer tails.
For the 'too many pets' thing, I don't think that is a high amount of pets for a family, and besides, the quantity doesn't matter; what counts is the amount of work that has to go into each of the pets' species, and mice relatively do not require as much work or take up much space.
This is probably obvious but emphasize how much it would mean to you, having the extra company and a new little friend to form a bond with. And how grateful you would be if she let you own one.
