just noticed a slight head tilt, what should i expect from vet visit?
i went to hold my mouse and noticed a slight head tilt and an abnormal unsureness to get on my hand. i’m calling the vet tomorrow but, if i can confide in this group, i’m so scared. this vet helped my late hamster but it was a traumatizing experience because she hurt her leg and the vet had to scruff her and palpate the area and she cried and i cried and it was just a mess, so i’m nervous as my mouse is my first and i’m unsure of what to expect and i’m afraid of him crying or squeaking, so i asked my husband to bring him in for me while i wait in the car (my husband is very much involved with our mouse but is far less of a crybaby than i am.)
so what should i expect from a general visit so far as the vet handling him? this is the only vet i can take my mouse to and like i said, this vet gave me another half a year with my hamster when she was ill, i just couldn’t handle her crying and i’m terrified of the same with my mouse. i’d go so far as to say he was not very gentle with the way he handled my hamster but she was a bit aggressive due to being in pain so i figured he was trying to avoid being bit. sorry if this post seems all over the place.

Re: just noticed a slight head tilt, what should i expect from vet visit?
One of my mice had a head tilt, he had an ear infection and he ended up on anti-biotics and was fine afterwards. Scruffing shouldn't hurt the mouse, I think they mainly squeak because they hate being scruffed/losing control. I didn't like the first vet I took my mice to because of how he handled them (plus told me to feed them cheese). My current vet explained what scruffing was and won't scruff them unless needed, but it depends on how close the pet needs to be examined. He may need to be scruffed so the vet can look in his ears, but it shouldn't cause any damage other than anger/fear, which is normal for most pets at the vet.
