Need advice

I currently rescued two male mice that are brothers. Immediately when I brought them home one of them seemed really sick and not breathing properly. I waited a day or two to see if it would improve but it didnt. So after a vet visit and trying antibiotics one boy passed away.
The one I have now seems not normal to me. He sleeps constantly, I mean 24/7. He will wake up every few hours to eat but then goes right back to sleep. He doesn't play or seem happy. When I hold him he just seems so slow and sluggish. Im not sure what to do? I feel like hes not enjoying his life

Hi there.
So sorry for you loss.
Has anything changed since you posted this?
He was grieving and also probably fighting the URI (I'm assuming that's what he had).
If you haven't started, try working with him on hand taming. This site has as wonderful packet that will get you started...
Handling and Taming
Hand taming build trust between you and your mouse. It helps him feel more secure which is needed to bond with you.
Use the search field on this site and enter the words "grief, grieving". Most of these articles are about females and usually one of the solutions is getting a few new females. You can't do that with males. Males cannot live with each other as they mature and certainly not if they are from different lines.
However, I just replied to another post about 2 males where one past away. You should be able to find it. It should have my avatar in the last posted column.
There is a paragraph or two about ASF rats females. I would not recommend this to you unless you have had a lot of experience with mice or other rodents. The poster I was responding to had a lot of experience with other rodents. So, just keep that in mind.
I hope he comes around. Lone males are really affectionate little guys. He will realize he needs your attention. Again, the hand taming process is the best way to get closer.
