Close cages between female and male? Empty Close cages between female and male?

Post by MabelnThorn Mon 25 May 2020, 8:49 pm

Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if I should move my male mouse’s cage away from the females? He doesn’t seem too bothered as I can see him watching the girls play and chatting to them from time to time. Last night I heard him nibbling on the bars a bit and today he is spending a lot of time looking at them, I am getting worried it may be stressing him out by increasing his testosterone levels because he naturally wants to breed with them?? Any advice on how others do it would be fantastic, as I’ve had girls for a while but this is my first time with a little boy!! Smile

It's actually a pretty good idea to keep them close together provided each cage is secure. Males live in colonies with females in the wild, not only to breed but for company in general. Giving your mouse a friend to talk to between the bars can help with the loneliness he may be experiencing. Smile
