I'm Worried About Rosie

So I thought it was time I made this post. I'm worried about Rosie. Yes, she's not acting particularly strange or sick, but I've been keeping an eye on her, and she's been consistently dropping in weight. She was 32g her entire life, rarely changing if ever. But then a couple of weeks ago she dropped to 30g and has since been bouncing between 28-29g. Now this evening, she's 27g. That's five grams gone, and I'm worried.

The thing is that since the tapeworm incident was "resolved", Mabel hasn't regained any weight. I assumed the tapeworm was gone but she just wasn't bouncing back up for some reason, but I'm now starting to suspect that maybe it wasn't gone, and Rosie has it too. But at the same time, this could be an old age thing. Rosie is coming up on two years, and I'd assume it's normal for mice to drop in weight a little as they get older. But so much in such little time? I don't like it.

So should I leave this alone for now? Or is it time to make a vet appointment? In fact, maybe it would even be a good idea to make a joint one for Mabel and Rosie so we can try to look for this tapeworm again? I don't want to go to the vet if I don't have to, but I'm really worried. Worry

Can you call the vet and ask about retreating tapeworm without the stressful visit for the girls? I haven't dewormed mice, but I know with other animals multiple rounds of dewormer is very safe.

I know you know this... but for things like this you need to follow your gut. Only you know if something doesn't seem right. With that said, I have never gone to the vet for weight loss if that is the only symptom. If it were a cat or a person... sure, they can do bloodwork or tests that might find something that could be treated with medication. But for mice... sigh... not a lot can be done. As i remember, the tapeworm treatment was rough on your mice. The way I decide whether or not to take my animals to the vet is by asking myself what could they possibly do for them, is that something I want to do, and/or would my critter want this? I have some critter that are fighters, like my Gilly, and then I have critters that would rather chew their tails off than go to the vet, like my Penny. That is always something I consider as well.

There are just so many things that could cause weight loss... it might seem related to the tapeworm treatment, but since mice age so quickly... it could easily be coincidental. The things that come to mind that could cause weight loss are age, cancer, hyperthyroid, and depression from the loss of her friend.
