I put the shelter we made inside the tank we were holding the wild mouse in for about a week - week and a half so she could get used to it. I placed food inside but didn't screw on the lid until the day we were releasing her (after refilling food stores to help her get a good start).

OK thanks,+ I'm going make a new home for her today with the shelter inside an old bath we have in the garden. I can put a waterproof cover on to keep her dry and safe. This way she can get used to being outside too.
