I can finally post!!
I requested to join this group back in November when I got my mice, and I was finally approved!! I have so many questions, but first… Meet Penny and Poppy. Poppy is enjoying her zucchini while Penny is more concerned with running away.

Here’s my set up!

It’s a 30 gallon long. I carry it to and from my classroom each week so I expect to have serious muscles soon. I’m open to any and all suggestions and recommendations you have
Now, onto the questions. I hope this is an okay place for this since I’m not familiar with how this forum likes things to be organized.
1. I have just the 2 girls in here. I read that groups of 3+ are ideal. Should I get another little mousey girl or is it too late to introduce a new one?
2. They still bite up my fingers like crazy, and fairly hard. I always feed them something when I stick my hand in there so they know I’m the good guy here. Penny will sniff around and then accept my peace offering. Poppy would rather eat my fingers sometimes. Suggestions?
Thank you in advance! I’ve already learned so much from everyone on here as I read through countless posts.

Re: I can finally post!!
Hi! Welcome, and I’m sorry it took so long to get approved. I didn’t realize I had it set up that way until I found a list of 200+ pending members. I also just had a baby so I’ve been distracted! lol
Your girls are so pretty. My first mouse was black and white and I was so in love with her.
I’m going to link a few articles relevant to your questions and if you need more help I’m here.
Groups of three or more are recommended because it usually helps balance out the hierarchy mice create. When there’s only two, personalities may clash and you might have issues like fighting. Mice also get really attached to each other, and if one passes they can become depressed and lonely…when there’s three or more in the family, the remaining can find comfort in each other.
It’s not too late to introduce a new mouse. First you’ll want to quarantine her for 2-3 weeks to help tame her and make sure she’s not sick. Introductions go much smoother when mice are tame!
Here’s information on quarantine:

Here’s information of introductions. I had the best luck starting with “playground intros,” but there’s nothing wrong with going straight to a neutral territory home. Usually a few nights in this smaller home is long enough to ensure everyone is getting along. The most important part is to make sure everything is clean and not holding any familiar scents.

This is information on taming. It sounds like you have a good start. Mice are sometimes bitey simply because they’re curious. The more you handle them, the faster they’ll realize that you’re more than just a bringer of good treats. If pulling your fingers away doesn’t discourage it, blowing a small puff of air at them is a good way to deter it.

Their tank looks great! Mice love “cluttered” spaces and climbing, so I would find ways to utilize more of their vertical space. I’m going to link a few threads you might like to look through for more ideas.

I agree, you should get another mouse. I personally had 2 girls, but having 3 levels out the hierarchy.
Also, congrats on your new mice! Having them is such an amazing experience.

200?!? Oh my word, haha. Congrats on your new human baby .
I will have to look into getting a third. Poppy is definitely queen of the tank but they get along well, for now lol.
I got them as class pets for my students, but I bring them home on the weekends to enjoy myself! They’re so fun.
Thank you for the tips and suggestions!

Hello! I’m new here, and I’m writing a book about small critter care and was wondering what other people would like to have for information I am pretty experienced but I would like to know if there is anything that you think is helpful to put in a book. Also here is a picture of my pregnant mummy mouse:
