Paper Straw Bendy Bridge

After watching this video a while ago,

I thought, I wonder if I could do that with paper straws. And today I did!

I used the same method as they did, only with the straws instead of cardboard tubes. This one I made is small, made with half straws mainly because I didn't have enough to use full size, but it's still a good size for the mice. The straws were only $0.98 for 25. The floral wire was a little under $5 but there's plenty extra and I could probably even reuse what's in this bridge at least a few times. So no biggy when the straws get nasty and need tossed. I'll let you guys know how well it holds up. I think I'll definitely be making more, different sizes and lengths! Very easy to make.

What a terrific idea! I'd love to try this, is it sturdy-ish with paper straws? Yours is so cute, I didn't even know paper straws were a thing. Laughing

Yeah, they're tougher than they sound - kind of cardboardish but not quite. I've used them in other tank decor and the mice hardly make a dent in them. Probably would work ok for smaller hams too but maybe not anything larger.

Edit to add: I got the idea to use paper straws at all from seeing *I think it was* Cari's little piggies offering them as a toy/chew.

I love it! I think it's probably too slippery to use it for what I was thinking, but it's super cute!

How neat! I would have never thought to use anything but wood! I've made some bendy bridges to very specific sizes for my ham tanks. But I used applewood sticks that I get in bulk for the chinchillas.
