Illness & Separating Mice

Today, I noticed Maier chattering and sneezing - seems to be a definite URI rather than just normal vocalizations, so I'm making a vet appointment. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to separate Maier & Graham, or if it'd merely make things worse. I don't think I've noticed any sneezing or chatters on Graham's part,yet anyways. Is there any point in separating them? Should I bring both of the mice in to the vet, and should they both be treated?

Well, okay, not even ten minutes since I've last checked on her and her chattering seems to have stopped (for the most part). Should I still make an appointment or would that leave it up to her normal vocalizing?

I would just keep an eye on her. Sometimes they make a chuffing noise that sorfa sounds like a sneeze when they make normal chatter. But if she's acting normal and the chatter stopped, most likely she was just telling you about her day.

And if she does turn out to be sick, I don't see any reason to separate the two. Graham would already be exposed. I'm not sure about treating her too. That's something the vet can answer. You could always ask on the phone if you need to call to make an appointment.

Ah, alright. I was a bit worried because she's never really chattered before - her regular vocalizations are always singular and short. I'll keep an eye on her today, and if it seems worse tomorrow I'll make an appointment and/or call to ask. Thank you!

Maier is making a completely different noise right now - but I'm not sure what it's about. It's nothing like the chattering of most vocal and/or ill mice. I'm not sure how to explain it - it seems to slow to match up with her breathing. It seems like a low 'd' sound, if that makes sense. Probably doesn't. Maybe like a cough of some sort, but oddly steady.
It only happens when she's in her box, but she's chewed in some DIY windows so I had the opportunity to watch her. She was grooming her sister and then seemed to just be laying there, like she was trying to sleep. I don't know why she'd be vocalizing at a time like that.
Regardless, she's been making noises for about 5-10 minutes a day, usually around 11-3, and only when she's hiding in her nest. I decided not to call the vet since she's acting normal and it's not even close to constant enough to guarantee that a vet would be able to detect anything even if she was ill. I'm leaning more towards just new vocalizations, but I've never heard a sound like that before. Anyone heard something similar?
