oreo died...

hi all, sad news. I woke up this morning to find ginger and poppy running around and playing, and when I went to see what oreo was doing, she was dead. I'm very sad as she was the most friendly, but I'm worried about ginger and poppy. I cleaned out the entire cage, and wiped it down with watered down white vinegar, (Then again with water to make sure it was clean).

I don't know how to sanitize wood. I have a bendy bridge I want to keep but I want to make sure it's clean.
I'm also going back to the pet store today to have them check up on ginger and poppy to make sure they arent sick, since oreo died so suddenly and without any warning.

I'm pretty sad right now but I know poppy and ginger are too, since they just lost their sister. I don't really know what to do,..

edit: I did get them from a pet shop. I waited for a few weeks, checking craigslist and adoption sites, and found nothing (all the while visiting the pet shop near my work & looking at the mice.) I don't recommend getting any animal from a pet shop as Oreo came to me somewhat sick, and animal mills are awful. I only did it because I was impatient and they were adorable

the pet store will not be able to tell you if your other girls are sick and it will stress them out. I would not take them if i were you.

I'm sorry for your loss but i think taking them anywhere right now would do more harm than good, unless wanted to take them to vet but even that would likely be unnecessary at this point.

Thanks, I did end up taking them but the manager/ rodent specialist said that they looked healthy & that the vet wouldn't do anything for them. So they're back with me. I did end up getting a refund for oreo, since I adopted her less than a month ago.

I still need to clean the wooden bendy bridge, and their hammock, (the hammock will be easy) i just need to figure out whether to boil the bridge, or bake it.

I'm so sorry for your loss of Oreo.
Just know, there is nothing wrong with getting pets from a pet shop. Of course adoption is always a great thing, but the mice can't help they ended up in a pet shop, and they deserve love too. So it's great you got your mice and are giving them a good loving home. Very Happy
