Mouseketeers wrote:For some reason brindle markings on pups are my favourite! I am excited to see their coats grow in. I love BEW's!! Almost as much as brindles . Are they all standard coat types? Out of the last 30 odd pups I haven't had a single standard coat ( intentional, but still ) and I miss the sleek cleanliness of a nice standard.
I am still really new to mouse color term.. Does standard mean like solid colors? Or does it mean like Black, White, Agouti?
If so, I think that Mouse and Pip's pups are standard colors then?
Calli:
- one pup that looks like the yellow/orange color with no markings
Mouse:
- 7 PEWs
- 1 Agouti (I think that is the right name, brown colored)
- and 2 that look very similar to Mouse's color (which I think was Lilac?)
Pip:
7 pups, hard to tell because they still just barely getting fuzz (at the point still where it just looks like their skin is morphing colors)

Oh my, I have to name one of them Stuart Little now!!!
Can BEWs be brindle too..?
As they are growing fuzz, it appears that they have a few markings/brindle stripes..?

Re: Pup pictures!
Mouse genetics are awesome, by far some of the most complex of the animal world. Standard is a type of coat. So in dogs you have thin sleek coat, long thick coats, short rough so on. Mice are similar they can vary from smooth fine coat's to fuzzy, long hair to hairless.
Standard is a smooth fine coat. I breed Angora and Rex varieties ( long hair and curly fluffy coats ) so I see very few standards come through my place anymore. Turns out I miss them Always the way lol

So, I may have favorites..
One is a cute little (somewhat) Brindle girl, and the other is a BEW brindle boy.

Re: Pup pictures!
I know that they will probably change personalities when they get a bit older.. But I have a huge love for the super sweet and cuddly over playful.. (and so far there are a few SUPER cuddly and a few SUPER playful, and the rest are a nice combination of both.)

Swoon! They are coated in bliss!
I LOVE the very pale brindle-looking mice you have.
A white mouse with any pigment at all is not a white. So the one pictured can't be a black-eyed-white. He could be a brindle with c-dilutes. He also vaguely resembles a poor splashed or variegated.

Ok, cool!
I was thinking that it wasn't quite adding up, BEW+Brindle, but don't really know mouse genetics.
I have ONE that looks BEW, and has NO markings at all but maybe that one is also a dilute because I am pretty sure their sire has no white what so ever, so I don't get how that would be a thing..
I have been trying to learn about mouse color genetics. I love and know ALL ABOUT horse color genetics, but don't really know where to start with learning about mice color..
(I knew that with very rare brindle horses or pinto zorses, they only have stripes on their colored parts, not in their white. but was having trouble finding things on Mouse colors..)

Re: Pup pictures!
Update:
Everyone (except pips younger pups) has opened their eyes!!!!
I may be starting a collection of cages..
(Every mouse is cute and adorable, but I wasn't sold on PEWs..)
I had decided "I will find homes for all the boys and all the albino mice" and go from there so that my pet colony isn't too massive...
But then of course the most friendly, cuddly, social, sweet, loving mice are my boys..... Who are PEW....
Will post pictures of everyone later!

Re: Pup pictures!
A few pictures
^Ariel
Some of the boys:
Some of the girls:
I took a picture of him grooming and then he gave me this look like I have deeply offended his great ancestors..
Runt:
Are you still watching me?
I leave now
"Scuse me, I made these, if you could return them that'd be great"
(the pretty much all white pup is named Stuart)
His name is Spoot. He has a spotty tail. I don't know where it came from..?
Sorry, I don't know why the pictures are facing every which way...
