Re: Itching under ear
Read this, it will probably help:
https://www.petmousefanciers.com/t17-itching-hair-loss-and-parasites
It's probably mites like the vet said, but I guess there's also a possibility that it could be something else, though not very likely. I know other people on this forum have way more info than I do about mice and scratching, so hopefully they'll answer soon, but I found that page to be very helpful.

Looks very similar to what was happening to @River 's mouse. Maybe they will have some advice..
Here are some topics about their mouse, maybe those will help in the mean time:

Oh, yes that's exactly what happened to my girl. It got worse and eventually one day I woke up to her cheek puffed up like crazy. It was an abscess in her cheek pouch that she was trying to dig through the skin to get at.
We got the Baytril and Metacam which cleared that wound up by the end of its course...but you really want this fixed quick. My mouse moved her scratching to her back and that has been difficult to stop. I would try to pick up some silver sulfadiazine 1% to apply to the wound. That's what's been prescribed for the wound on my girls back, it speeds healing and stops scratching as it soothes the wound.
Can you see a different vet at all? If you can afford it I'd call them, tell them what has been done and ask what they would do differently. I also asked for a nail trim so she wouldn't damage it further.
If that's not possible I know a group on Facebook that might be able to help, I can forward you the link if needed. They have vets on board that can help figure that situation out, from what I've seen.
My Graham has been recovering. That wound in particular is a scar with some sparse fur now, so I'm sure this guy will be fine.
