Aspen vs Carefresh
Sorry for asking so many questions, but I want an honest opinion on carefresh. I've heard a lot of bad things and good things about carefresh. I noticed a lot of people on here using it, so I looked it up online and found it to be cheaper than the bedding I'm using, apsen bedding. I would like to know, is it good or is it an absolute no - no?
Re: Aspen vs Carefresh
The short answer is that plain carefresh is perfectly safe, as is all plain paper based beddings. That means, no fragrances like lavender and no baking soda. The color of the plain paper being doesn't matter, all safe, unless it has something added to it.
The long answer is that for a couple years, carefresh was adding baking soda to all of their bedding, which is harmful to the delicate respiratory systems of small animals and potentially lethal. They stopped using it but there are probably still some bags floating around in pet store inventory. If it has baking soda though, it will say so on the front of the bag.
However, many people find it to be really dusty. Personally, I prefer kaytee clean and cozy. It's the softest, by far, and not overly dusty. Both carefresh and kaytee are preferable to aspen, though. Aspen not only can cause allergies in mice but it's also not very soft on the little feets.

Ditto what Scaredy said. Another paper based bedding that I really like is Green Dreamzzz.

Re: Aspen vs Carefresh
All paper based beddings are way better than wood beddings. Wood beddings like aspen are allergenic and uncomfortable.

Re: Aspen vs Carefresh
Thank you everyone, I think I will try switching to CareFresh and see how they like it .
Re: Aspen vs Carefresh
Ooh, I switched to CareFresh and they absolutely loved it! They immediately started picking up the bedding and moving it to make a nest! They look so happy with it. Definitely using it from now on! I'm happy with it too, because I bought a big bag, I think it's like 24 liters, and it's really fluffy so it lasts a long time, which means I won't need to buy some again for a while!

Re: Aspen vs Carefresh
Question - which kind of Carefresh is the least dusty? I was going to add it on, but I forgot myself. Was it white or natural?

White is less dusty, from what I've heard.
