Scared? Empty Scared?

Post by fancymice Sat 30 Jun 2018, 1:46 am

Today in the morning I was feeding the girls and they put their paws on my hand and sniffed me an everything. But tonight when I went to feed them, one of the girls, coconut, sniffed me and everything but when I put my hand next to almond, she ran away and squeaked for a second. Do you think she got scared? About 15 seconds later she went up to hand and sniffed it and put her paws on me like she always does. But then again I got closer and she went into the corner of the tank and I think started eating a seed. But once again went back to sniff me.

Probably just nervous. I mean, she's okay with sniffing your hand while its still, but it probably just freaks her out when it moves. I mean, imagine that you were investigating something foreign and it started moving--she's probably afraid you'll suddenly grab her or something--she probably doesn't fully trust that you're not a predator yet.
Of course, that's assuming that you got them recently. If they're already comfortable with you, I'm not sure, lol.

I agree, it sounds like she’s just still a bit nervous with your hand. Keep up on the taming sessions. I find moving them over to a safe play area outside of their cage can really help things along. If she won’t climb willingly onto your hand or she’s super jumpy, you can use a tube or box to gently move her over until she’s more comfortable. Time and patience are your friend.
