Burrying everything!
Hi everyone! This is not really an issue but it is just something I noticed my girls do and was wondering if anyone else ever experienced their mice doing that.
So I own hamsters and they need at least 6 inches of bedding, so out of habit, I put at least 3-4 inches of bedding into my mice enclosure as well. I noticed that they really love to burrow, all of them go crazy in the fresh new bedding, burrowing and jumping all over the place. The only problem with that is that they start to cover everything in bedding, blocking entrances to their toys and hides and it only takes them about two days to have everything under the bedding. I don't mind all that much, as they love having the toys taken out from underneath the bedding and they go crazy the same way as they do after having their enclosure cleaned.
So do any of you have mice that absolutely love burrowing and also bury everything underneath the bedding?
I'm considering making a platform that would hold all the toys up but fill underneath of it with bunch of bedding. That way the access to their toys and hides is not compromised but they also get to play in the bedding all they want.

Re: Burrying everything!
This is definitely normal! All of my mice like to bury things, especially their food!! I've recently switched them to shredded paper towels and tissue paper over Carefresh, and they've just been going nuts burying everything and burrowing!
I recently bought some pantry shelves to use in their bins to see if I can figure out a way to keep their food from being buried to make it easier to see when they're actually out of food, so we'll see how that goes!

Yep, totally normal. I used to use cardboard boxes and such under the cutesy hides and toys to keep them from being completely buried. And the food dish. Some mice really enjoy even deeper bedding or dig boxes, but most of mine were quite happy with just 3-4 inches of bedding.
