Maier and Graham
I'm River - he/him. On May 10, 2016, I adopted my first mice in three years. In 2013, both of my last girls died of old age, so it's been a while and I thought I'd get into the mice again.
So I adopted. Both girls are 'rescues' from feeder tanks. Unfortunately, there are no breeders in my area, and the rescues don't tend to hold mice, so naturally, feeder tanks are really the only option.
Maier is a black mouse, though the tip of her tail is white. She recently turned 10 weeks old - I got her when she was just 4-5 weeks. She was named after primarily black and white photographer Vivian Maier. She's always been oddly friendly, for supposedly never having been handled - she'd climb right into my hand and accept pets the first time I tried. She bruxs* and sparks more than any mouse I've seen. She started sneezing 9 days after I bought her - the vet diagnosed her with stress originally, but now we're thinking more allergies or bad bedding. She had been using Crittercare, which I discovered is pretty infamous for being dusty. Luckily, it's no URI, and it's been improving for a while now, but it's still something I have to monitor pretty constantly. She's a bit of an escape artist - many times I've seen her perched on top of the water bottle or atop her hut, little paws pressed up against the mesh lid of her tank. She loves climbing, which of course to me, is worrying, but she loves it and she's never fell once.
Graham is a PEW mouse. She's roughly 6-8 weeks old I estimate, named after primarily black and white photographer Robyn Graham. I got her on what I believe was April 11, 2016, shortly after Maier received her stress diagnosis. Since Maier was stressed and lonely and likely to get worse quickly, we agreed to only quarantine Graham for a week. I guess this evolved into two weeks, somewhat, as Graham and Maier took forever to even try to get along! It was another full week before they could live together. Graham is more shy, however, she warmed up quickly enough and is starting to approach my hands and accept a small pet here and there. She seemed to pick up on Maier's sparking after a few days, and now she does it fairly often as well. I've not yet to get to know her too well - I'm still working on bonding with both girls. From what I've picked up, she's a massive wheel hog, she loves paper towel rolls, and is the pickier eater out of the two. She tosses at least a half of the bowls contents to the floor for Maier to eat. She's constantly begging her honorary sister for groomings, nuzzling her mouth until she gets a lick or two.
I really haven't decided who the alpha is yet - I'm fairly certain Maier has gotten that ranking, as whenever they scuffled, she always appeared to have won.
Since they're so sparky, I've not yet gotten any good pictures of the girls, despite their misleading photographer names. If I ever happen to catch a good one, I'll add it on.

Your mice sound lovely. It is hard to take pictures of mice. I always end up taking a hundred or so, with only 1 or 2 turning out somewhat decent. I'm sure it doesn't help that I only have my phone camera.

Welcome to you and your meecers
Pictures of mice are so hard haha. I'm always meaning to do that thing mouse breeders often do - put the mouse on an upside down wineglass. The base is big enough for a mouse to comfortably stand on, but small enough that they can't move around too much, so they seem to get good pictures of their mice doing this. Never tried it myself, but have seen lots of pictures like this.

Greetings! It seems from your response to another question you know a lot about rats- have you had experience with them too? Just curious! Your mice sound lovely, too bad you only have feeders in your area!

I've never owned any personally - I considered it in later 2015, and after doing tons of research on them, I decided that at this time, they aren't the best pet for me. I would like some in the future though!
Truly. I got a glare out of Graham today - tried giving her some oats, but I guess my hand being so close to her snacks made her angry. Funniest look, though.

Re: Maier and Graham
I remembered that I actually HAD taken some mediocre pictures while I was setting up the tank once! Don't worry about the tanks emptiness - its usually much funner than this. Lots of popsicle stick toys.
Android camera has about three pixels for each photo, so excuse the blur.

Not sure how to add pictures on mobile, hope a link is fine. The wheels too small, but we've got a flying saucer coming in the mail.

They worked for me when I looked at them earlier, but now I see the same thing CallaLily does. They're cute though! The picture of Maier was my favorite, black mice always look so fab!
