That would be true - as it is with most mammal babies I've had to care for.

Thank you all for the help! 3 of the 4 survived the night. The 4th died some time between 1am and 4am. The 3rd was still struggling but did eat some and at 9am finally went to the bathroom. The other 2 were pretty active - ate willingly and went to the bathroom. A vet tech at our vet has rats as pets and said he would take them. As of noon today, the 3 babies were alive. Hopefully they will make it. Thanks again for the help!

I did have to help them go to the bathroom. 3 survived the night and were alive at noon when I dropped them off. Thank you all for the help.

A good outcome! With orphaned mice, rarely do all of them survive. I'm guessing it's the same for rats. You did a wonderful job.

This won't be important now, but did you see moving bugs, or just white flakes? When the fur first pokes throught, it gives baby rodents terrible dandruff for a few days.
