Little Red Eye is dying

I'm holding him now. He's gasping for breath and not moving much at all.

I knew it was a long shot to hope for all 5 little rescues to stay alive...but I'm sad.

Oh, no, I'm so sorry. The thing with very young mice like this is that we just can't take as good of care of them as their mothers. It's the tragedy of orphaned mice; they often don't make it. It's good that your other four are doing okay though.

Note to one of the mods: Perhaps one of you should hide the photo and add a warning. I feel like not everyone will be comfortable to see a photo of a dying baby mouse.

I removed the photo.

We'll bury the little guy. He was the smallest of the bunch. I've been worried about him from the beginning.

So he passed on? I'm so sorry. I went through a similar ordeal with one of my girls last night. It's so hard to see them struggle to breathe.

Are your other little ones still doing alright?

I'm sure he would be grateful for what you've given him. He had a good life - I'm sure he doesn't mind an early ending.
How are the other little ones doing?

You tried your best for him and gave him a chance that he never would have had without you. It's sad that he didn't make it, but you can feel good knowing that you did that for him.
