just found out i’m pregnant, can i still hold my mouse?

i’m sorry if this is a weird topic!
i love my mouse so much and my husband and i just found out we’re pregnant! it’s unexpected but not unwelcome.
i was wondering if anybody has experience with this topic and if i can continue holding my mouse? thank you!

I’m not sure what issues there would be? Yes, you can still handle your mouse

i read something about LCM virus i believe?
i’m not sure how common that is but i’ve been hearing mixed things about pregnant women and mice

I worried about this when I was pregnant too! I safely handled all my mice through my pregnancy. Keep up on hygiene (as you should anyway) and cleanliness and make sure wild mice have no access to your pets. LCM, if I remember correctly, is going to be a rare find among wild mice... and an even rarer find among pet mice.

that makes me feel much better.
i had my hubby clean his cage yesterday and we put him in a little box just in case
i couldn’t hold him and he kept looking up at me like “mom, wtf?” lol! so it’ll be nice to hold him tomorrow

Your mouse would have to have the virus for you to get it. If you are concerned you can have your mouses tested for the virus by a vet. That might put your mind at ease. As much as I dislike pet stores that sell animals, Petco has this very informative article as well:
