DIY Mouse Wheel?
Hi! I'm trying to modify the mouse wheel I currently have to make it safer for my mice.
I currently have a typical grid wheel like this:
I have had problems with the supporting bars in the past however so I want to change it so it has a solid back/no bars, like a silent spinner.
I'm not super sure how to go about this though.
My first thought was to remove one/both of the support bars and to hot glue a plastic circle (made of an old tupperware container) to the back and make a standing base from there. I'm not sure if the glue will be strong enough or if it will be safe for the mice.
I'm also not sure how to make a base that will support the wheel without it sagging (I'm planning on trying to make it either like the silent spinner or comfort wheel)
Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: DIY Mouse Wheel?
Even if modified I would suggest getting a new wheel if possible but years back when I had one of these I put decorative duck tape on it until I had enough for a safe wheel , it worked well. But it also depends on the mices chewing habits.

Re: DIY Mouse Wheel?
Honestly, I would just get a new one if you're worried about it. (Mesh wheels in general ARE okay for mice, but if the guard rails have caused issues, I would get a new one.)
If you don't want to/can't afford to buy a new wheel, you could also make an entire DIY wheel! Here are some tutorials, I'm sure there are others out there, too!
