Where can I get my mice?

So I have a but of a problem. There are No mice breeders near me(even in the countries next to mine) and there have been no mice in shelters for over a year now. There are only 3 people on a kind of craigslist and i definitly don’t trust them bc their mice are in crittertrails.(health didn’t look great either) So really the only option I have are pet shops or feeders. Do you think Its okay to get mice from a pet shop if there may never be any other way to get them?

I personally got my mice from a pet shop. Really, the aim of adopting is just to give a needy mouse a good home, but if there are no needy mice around you going to a pet shop is fine.

Many of my mice come from pet stores, most people here don't shun it. Especially since (at least in America) most pet store mice will be sold as snake feeders anyway, so not buying them as pets won't stop them from continuing to sell/breed them...

Pet store mice have poor genetics generally, but some of my pet store mice have been just as sweet and adorable as my bred mice.

Ah Thank you! How often do pet store mice get sick with vet care needed? And How much would be the cost of a general vet visit?

I don’t have a whole lot of experience but I’d say to expect at least half of your mice to go once or twice in their lifetime. A general visit for a URI cost me $100, but with more complicated illnesses (such as tumors, which can be common in females) it can cost more. I’d say keep a stash of at least $100 per mouse just in case. Smile

Allright great then I already saved up for double the amount of mice I want without knowing
