I've been noticing that my mice have been active at different duration's each day, some times more active sometimes less, ever since one of my first mice passed and her sister got a new cage mate their duration of activity has fluctuated quite a bit is this normal?

I think so. My mice have never had an especially consistent daily schedule, it's always a little different.
Dramatic changes may be linked to stress, such as the loss of a colony member/new cagemates. I wouldn't worry too much personally.
