Gender of new mouse advice wanted
We got a new mouse from petsmart it was advertised as female but she's really stinky so now wondering if it's actually a male can you guys help me out. She/he is very squirmy so I had to use a cup to look at her/his undercarriage. Holding her would be almost impossible and I woul definitelyget bit and traumatize her/him.

Looks male to me but I'm not confident one way or another.

This is probably one of the most ambiguous looking mice I've seen.
In some photos it looks male and in some photos I could swear the space is too small. That said...never had a female smell anything like a buck. They're hard to miss.

The cage smells. it seems like it pees alot do males smell like pee or is it more of a distinct smell. The wheel is constantly covered. The girls wheels are usually pretty clean. I was going to introduce them tomorrow since it has been 14 days I will see if I can get a better picture before I do that I will see if I can get her to stretch and be in a different position.

They smell like pee, but more intense and worse.
Usually only for the first week or so, though.

Still looks like a male to me, but I'm not 100%. Can you try to gently feel along their belly to see if you can feel nipples? If you do see or feel nipples, it's for sure a female as males don't have nipples.
Males (at least to me) just smell like a much more potent mouse-pee smell. It doesn't bother me much though, so others might say differently.

This looks female to me. If you can’t handle her, the next best thing is just to keep an eye on her when she’s hanging around her cage. If she’s actually male, at some point she’ll “flaunt it” and you’ll know for sure.
For reference:
I’ve also definitely had stinky females! It’s not so much the “sweet musky” stink that I’ve noticed with males, though.

I'd say female there as well! The gap looks too small to be male to me. Peachy described the male scent well.
