Good day, ya'll!

I'm a slightly new fancy mouse owner; I've had them as a kid & my partner has had them throughout his life. We are recieving our 0.3 mice next week from the breeder & we already have 2.0 guinea pigs! I'm really excited for our ladies!

I'm a zookeeper volunteer (or: intern) & studying vet tech! We have a Prevue 528 cage (so about 610sq") & I've been excitedly building enrichment items! Most of my life revolves around animals & conservation...

Me? I love video games, reading, painting, gardening, & knitting Smile

Hello! I had a guinea pig for 8 years. His name was William. He liked to lie on my lap, drink tea from a spoon, and wheek when he knew some field weeds were coming. Yeah, guinea pigs don't do all that much. Laughing

Looking forward to pics of your new girls!

That's so cute!!! I love how sleepy-cuddly they can be. Our older boar, Gaudi, LOVES lap time & pets so much.

I adore GPs! They're so funny. Our boars are a delight. We had a previous pair, Samwise & Frodo, but they passed; we usually keep them in pairs as a herd/social animal, and Samwise was a sheeeeer delight. He loved training sessions and just... Interacting with us. After Frodo passed, he raised Gaudi, and admittedly, really babied him! When he passed, which he was about 8 as well!, we got our newest, Oisín, who is.. Ridiculous. He loves to be "tall," so he climbs & jumps up on the hides all the time.

We're so excited for our 3 mice! We've been trying to figure out names, with so far: Agatha, Tabitha, & .... ?

Tabitha for Tabitha Stephens from Bewitched

& we're soo stumped on the third right now.

We're torn on that! We have some unknown metric for "what feels like a witchy mouse name" so we decided Jeannie from "I Dream of Jeannie" doesn't work. I love that it rhymes, so I think whatever fits....? I've debated Edith... We've debated Endora (also Bewitched). MAYBE Morticia from Addams Family??? We really dislike "Wicked", so that rules out Zelena... Uh... I guess, yea, it'd be fun if it was a -tha name, but ehhh we're not bound to it!

Morticia is always a cute name! I found a baby name generator where you can specify 'ends with' and tried it out. Actress Lara Parker (who looked exactly like my second grade teacher!) played the witch "Angelique" on Dark Shadows, AND the witch "Madelaine" on an episode of Kolchak - The Night Stalker. Arthurian legend gives us "Morgan". A cast list for Bewitched will provide you with probably dozens of names of Samantha's relatives and friends -- and enemies -- from the witchy side of things (just in case you haven't used that resource yet). And I hear Harry Potter World is full of witches -- have you looked there for inspiration?

Great ideas! Morgan also reminds me of Morrigan -- she's a witch in the game dragon age, named after a Celtic deity.

Oh sweet! The "ends with" can be really helpful....

EDIT: Talking with my husband/partner/whatever-we-were-supposed-to-married-last-year-thanks-COVID & he agrees with Lagertha, ahaha. Which fair enough, she is actually a sitcom witch, too! Why we landed on this crazy specific naming metric, I have.... no idea.

I forgot about Kolchak! I could maybe go with Madelaine. I think Morgan isn't super "mousey" to us (I really wish I could explain what is or isn't "mousey" aha). & yea, we got Endora & Tabitha from the Bewitched show!

Also, I've never seen mammals listed in the 0.0.0 format, so I was confused for a second thinking you had, like... 1/3 of a mouse Laughing

@River In reptile / invert communities, a lot of people use 0.0.0 to indicate how many of each sex of a critter they have!

So 1.2.5 would mean you have 1 male, 2 females, and 5 (generally unsexed) juveniles.

0.3 in this case means they don't have any males and have 3 females. c:
