Hello!
Hi! I am Michele. I have three mouse girls. One is white, one is black with a tan belly and the other one is blonde colored. I just had to put my 4th mouse, Martha to sleep yesterday because of self mutilation. She was only 8 months old. I don't understand why a mouse does this to itself. It was heartbreaking to watch her continually scratch herself so hard that she got cuts all over her body. The vet stitched up one large one only for her to give herself another big gash a week later. The vet told me mice do this and you cannot stop them. Has anyone one else heard of such a sad thing?

Re: Hello!
Hi @michelelaforte9@gmail.com Welcome. My Figgus is black with a grey belly. They can do that when they are very stressed, or have mites, allergies or just develop an obsessive/compulsive condition. I'm sorry .

Re: Hello!
Thank you Dee for your reply. She was checked for mites and allergies and there were none. She was not in a stressful situation and I tried to hold her and cuddle her as much as possible. The vet thought it was a mental disorder.

Re: Hello!
Yes, unfortunately it happens, you did her right though, take comfort in that.
