Hello!
My name is Mearis and I'm from the UK. I love all rodents! I currently one one elderly ratty named Tina. <3

I've owned mice before when I was younger, though they were kind of given to me without me being able to prepare for them properly, so I can't say I learned a lot to do with mouse care during the small period of time I owned them for.
This time around, due to me having to stay at home a lot for medical reasons, I'd really like to get back into owning mice and preferably breeding my own new generations of pets for myself for years to come. I figure this would be a great hobby for myself seeing as I have so much free time. I'm currently saving for a large enclosure and supplies for some female mice, but I would also love to own males when I can.

I am curious on how to approach keeping male mice if I'm looking to eventually breed them. I know intact male mice should not be kept together as they are very territorial. And I know male mice being kept alone will get lonely.
How are male breeding mice kept? Is it recommended to not really keep male breeding mice? Or maybe breed them once and then get them neutered?

I own a box shelving unit that I planned to convert into four separate enclosures for male mice, I would be able to add small windows made of mesh as to let the boys see each other.
I was wondering if windows like these would help them feel less lonely, seeing as they can see and smell a friend next door, or would this only antagonize them?

I don't know much about breeding, but I've heard male mice can be kept with African soft-furred rats. Smile
