I have been trying to find cages that have 1/4" bars without any silly gimmicks like plastic tube holes in the sides of the cages. I actually want to use it for young flying squirrels before they go into big midwest critter cages with 3/8" wire but all the mouse cages currently on the market I can find either do not mention the bar size at all or are 3/8". I was surprised that some were actually 1/2"! Back when I used to breed mice, I had fuzzy sized mice escape from lab bins on occasion so I know that small rodents can be pretty good at squeezing through bars.
