White fur is yellow

I've noticed over the past couple days that the pretty white fur on Yoshi's nose is a yellow-brownish color. It was fainter last night than it is today. He's on white shredded paper towels so it couldn't be stained from newspaper or anything. Anyone think of a reason why? Just nosing around in dirty bedding before I pick it out? Secret stash of yellow dandelions?

I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure that NM said a long time ago that a mouse turning yellow can indicate serious liver problems. But I can't remember if she said it was the skin that turned yellow or the fur. Either way, I would take him to the vet.
Edit: Oh, pfft, I just realized that you said only a little bit of his fur has turned yellow. I thought you meant all of it! Then it's probably nothing much to worry about.

Interesting. I'd think yellowing from liver issues would just be in the skin. I Googled cats/dogs and all I came up with is that sometimes older animals don't clean themselves as well. Maybe invent mousey face wipes.

Jaundice (yellowing of the skin and mucous membranes) is a symptom of liver failure but it doesn't apply to fur/hair. His yellow fur around his nose was probably him rooting around in dirty bedding (ew, gross). I much prefer the dandelion theory.

Oh good! I hesitated to blame bedding (or dandelions, lol) because none of my white mice have turned yellow before, but I guess they had friends to help them keep all shiny. Thanks for your input guys.
