Re: Are these safe?
Ew, gross!
Aside from being icky, I can't see any reason why they wouldn't be okay. I don't know for sure, but I would feel safe giving them to my critters. Given that mice eat crickets and mealworms, I don't see how this would be much different. And I'm sure they wouldn't hesitate to eat this in the wild.

I think I've seen someone else here mention they've given these to their mice. I don't see why they wouldn't be safe. A good feeder insect, sometimes called Phoenix worms or calci-worms. I used to get them (live) when I had crested geckos. My leo was never much interested though so I don't buy them anymore.

Yay. I ordered some too. I figured the crabs will eat them if the mice don't.

Re: Are these safe?
awwww! cute!
I have to say I've not yet got the courage to feed mealworms to Colin...they creep me out for some reason...the wild birds would also like them...but I just can't bring myself to get any!

Can't beat the video testimony of mice chowing down on these grubs! Imogene loves to eat freeze-dried mealworms, crickets and grasshoppers so I just ordered this sample bag. As CallaLily said, the hermit crabs will always eat them, too, so no waste.

Re: Are these safe?
Surprisingly, meal worms don't freak me out at all but for some reason these things really do. I'm going to order a pack for my girls and I guess that I'll just have to suck it up. If they don't like it, I can always put it in the bird feeders!

They're a hit here too. With the dog as well. I left the bag on the counter and I'm guessing one of the cats knocked it off because I found my Min Pin had it ripped open and was chowing down.

Lol! My dog wanted some too. I gave her one to try thinking she would think it was icky, instead she ate it and followed me around begging me for more.CallaLily wrote:They're a hit here too. Re: Are these safe?
Ok, is there a free bag somewhere for me that I should be claiming?
*****edit: I found it and ordered it
Also, worms don't gross me out too much but I don't like the freeze dried crickets. The mice love them, too. It's so gross to watch them hold those big 'ol crickets and chow down (*barf)

Re: Are these safe?
Lol! My dad recently gave me a few freeze dried crickets for the mice, because I contacted a company and they sent him a sample of reptile food, which had the crickets in it. The thing that freaked me out was the eyes. Without looking at the eyes I was fine with holding them. It's like I feel like they are looking at me and I almost feel sorry for them . Meal worms just don't creep me out at all, live or dried. They are harmless to humans live and obviously harmless dried. But I grew up with a reptile enthusiast and they've always been around, so I'm probably just used to them, unlike most people. My dad also keeps superworms, which are like monster sized meal worms, and I'm scared to hold those because he told me they can bite. But if they were dried I wouldn't be scaredscaredymouse wrote:Ok, is there a free bag somewhere for me that I should be claiming?
