Good or bad cage?
I saw this for sale at a really good price, what are your opinions on this cage? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Petrum-Large-Wooden-Rodent-Hamster-Cage-Three-levels-amp-Accessories-/152393646954/?_ul=AR
I don't know how to figure out how big it is, is it too large? Also, there's no place for bedding... How would that work?

At a quick glance, that cage is quite a lot bigger than a 40g breeder aquarium. Considering size alone, I wouldn't recommend something like this for mice... It's just too big.
Now if we're talking syrian hamsters, it would be fine. It looks like you would just throw bedding in the top like any other cage, then when is time to clean, open the little door on the bottom and sweep it out. That said, I can't imagine how an enclosure like that could possibly stay clean! With the pee and the chewing...I don't know.

Re: Good or bad cage?
The description says it 45 inches long x 24 inches wide x 23 inches high. So it has bigger floor space than a 75g tank (48Lx18Wx21H). Those measurements are probably the outside largest points though, so it's probably a few inches smaller LxW - maybe closer to that of a 75 footprint. Definitely quite the large space for mice either way. You'd have to measure to be sure. You would definitely want to seal the wood with a safe product. I've seen plastikote recommended as safe but I think it's hard to find and expensive. There are other safe sealants out there, I just don't know of any others off the top of my head.

Re: Good or bad cage?
Thanks CallaLily and Scaredymouse! I don't think I will get it.. At first I thought "Wow, that looks like a nice size for my hamster!" but he's a big chewer, so he'd probably chew his way out eventually. Then I thought "Well, it's got a lot of nice platforms and climbing space for the mice!" but it ended up being a little too much space for them.
