Post by Mirabelle Fri 14 Apr 2017, 3:22 pm

Hi, I'm Mira from Denver! My mice are Mocha (brown) and Makkuro (black).
I've been trying to do my research and take good care of these little ladies.

Welcome! I love your name. Mocha is so beautiful, brown mice are so cute! (Makkuro is too <3)

I thought Makkuro was a reference so I looked it up, and I have to say the name is fitting.

Thank you! I thought it was fitting too. Love They're both very good girls, although Makkuro is warming up to me a lot faster. I'm already thinking about how to add on to their cage and introduce 2 more to them.

Makkuro really is a fitting name! Mocha is adorable.
When you add on floorspace, make sure it is uninterrupted. Cages connected via tubes don't truthfully add any more floor space.

edited**last part wouldn't add for some reason?

I have seen that in my research. Right now they're just in the 1 story Crittertrail (I know I know, I bought it with them before I did much research!) I don't have much room in my place for a tank right now, but we're moving in a couple months. For right now I got another smallish cage off craigslist and I'm going to... attach them with tubes. Worry
I figure that's better than just staying in only the Crittertrail until we move and I have room for the tank.

Welcome! We're glad to have you. Smile

I think a CritterTrail will be okay for a short time, but I would be careful connecting them with tubes. In my experience, they don't stay connected in well, and if the tube comes apart from the cage your girls will have a chance to escape. This happened years ago, and my cat found the escaped mouse before I even knew she was gone. Sad

I think I'm going to attach the 2 by cutting a hole in the bottom of the crittertrail and the top of the other cage and just gluing a tube into it so they can get down and using some extra wire to fasten them so the crittertrail doesnt tip. I shouldnt have to worry about them escaping that way cuz the tube is all inside the cages.

Oh, they're lovely! I love seeing other mice. (Lil cuties)
How old are they? My breeder told me that brown mice have a higher risk of getting tumors. (Cancerous or not, I'm not sure.) I didn't know if that was correct..... but I love their names! Creative!

I'm honestly not sure about their age, they're just pet store mice. That's worrisome to hear, I'll make sure I watch Mocha closely for any sudden lumps, true or not. And thank you!
