Small wound? Empty Small wound?

So I don't know if I've introduced my boy bean. But I've had him for a good few months now and out of the blue tonight I discovered a small wound about the size of a pin head on his side. I have absolutely no clue how he got it as there is nothing sharp in his cgae.
My fiance thought it was a hot spot since we changed his food too one with higher protein but there was a little bit of blood so it didn't look like a bald patch...
I can get a picture if that would help. Any ideas?

Maybe from scratching? Has he been treated for mites?
