Ferrets
I made this thread for Rodents rock!, but anyone may chime in if they'd like to! I'd enjoy seeing anyone else's ferrets.
And, Rodents rock!, if you'd like to share more pictures of Otis, feel free to!
Now, here is Grace:
This isn't her best 'face', so to speak, as she looks just a little smug in this picture, lol.

Re: Ferrets
Aww, ferrets are so cute! I've never seen one in person, are they really friendly like a dog or cat, or are they shy and timid? I've heard they are a lot like owning a dog, but again, I've never even seen one so I wouldn't know that they are like.

Re: Ferrets
Yes, ferrets are really friendly...like a dog. Only way less maintenance, in a sense. They're so much quieter, too, so that's nice.
And my ferret is kind of like a mixture of owning a dog (somewhat), a cat (definitely), and a rat (because they look like big rodents running around the house!).
And you might even say a snake, too, as they can slither a little, and it's disturbing, but funny.

Re: Ferrets
Awww, Grace is so pretty! Thanks for sharing.
As far as smell as you had asked before, my male was neutered and descented and to tell you the truth he really didn't have an odor. He was so sweet and so funny when he would run around making the little noises they make. And I loved when he would curl up in my lap and take a nap. I always compared him to a cross between a dog and a cat. All those years ago when I had him, there wasn't food sold that was dedicated to ferrets, so most people that had ferrets back then fed them cat food. Otis ate 9 Lives dry cat food.
I'll add his photo here:
This is the photo I keep in my living room, I do have some others, I will have to find them.

Well that's nice. And I know, right?; their happy play noise is adorable. I'm not sure if it's called a 'dook' or a 'chuckle' that they (or at least Grace?) do when they're playing. Grace is a pretty happy fuzzy.
And that's a really nice picture of Otis.
Do you ever want another one or two?

Yeah, and if you do get another one, you should get two, as one is fun, but two is 'double' the fun, since they're super funny to watch play together.
Here's Grace playing by herself...sort of (I was playing with her a bit and threw that stuffed ferret at her to play with, and I think this was the day after I'd gotten her)
And although I don't really have pictures of my mom's ferret and a different ferret I had playing together, here's a picture of them sleeping together (also cute to see)
But you know, ferrets can get in super funny positions when they're sleeping.
I should post more pictures of Grace in weird sleeping positions hopefully tomorrow.
Good night!

Re: Ferrets
You are very welcome!
The other ferret came with the name of Maggie, but I changed it to Mary Magdalene, so we would still call her Maggie. And my mom's ferret, the one on the right, is Missy. She had been named Crumb, but I changed it, since that was a silly name, lol.
And yes, my mom and I got them at the same time. We got them off of Craigslist from the same house, since the lady wouldn't separate them. But we got them and their stuff (and later, their cage) for $75. The lady was really nice, and was taking a loss, but I don't think she was too concerned about that. Grace we got with her stuff for $50.
We got Missy and Maggie as friends for Grace, but it turns out, neither of them like(d) her, and tried to kill her. Maggie was put down after a couple of months of getting her, since she had adrenal gland disease, and Missy is in a different room and cage now. So, that's that story. =P

Re: Ferrets
Love the crazy positions ferret's sleep in, thanks for the photos. I had gotten Otis as a baby. Later in his life he had gotten a tumor on his adrenal gland. My vet at the time recommended an exotic pet specialist vet to me. So we went to see him and Otis had surgery to have the tumor removed. Then he did very well for quite some time. But then his heart became enlarged and he started filling up with fluid. Treated him for a little while with meds but then he started going downhill and I had him put to sleep. I held him as he passed. I'm tearing up just typing this.
I don't know if you believe in spirits or not, but after Otis was put to sleep it was a while before I could bring myself to take out all his stuff from his room. He had an area of a spare bedroom, so he wasn't kept in a cage. He had lots of toys, to include those little balls with bells in them, for cats. So, I was in the living room watching TV and all of a sudden I heard those bells, like he was in there rolling them around. I took that as a sign, Otis was letting me know he was alright and for me not to worry about him. I sure do miss him.

Re: Ferrets
I'm sorry, Rodents rock!. Losing any loved one is painful.
Unfortunately, (you probably know this, though), adrenal cancer in ferrets is very, very common.

Thank you.
Yes, it is very common, unfortunately.
Very nice lyrics.
