Hey! Pretty soon I will be getting my mice, and I'm looking around for products etc. and I've come across a food called Tiny Friends Farm: Reggie Rat and Minnie Mouse Mix in my local petshop and it's sold in others as well. I have only seen/heard of one person using this food and I'd like to know what you all think of this food. Have you seen this food around? Is it recommended? Do you think it offers the right nutrients etc?

Thanks in advance!

I think it's okay, but I wouldn't say it's the best. I like to mix it in with some of my other foods. The main issue I find with it is that it has a lot of filler. The food is practically 50% corn/flaked peas. I actually measured out 1/3 cup of the food last night, and when i picked out all the filler, the food was closer to 1/6 of a cup.

Not great. It looks to have very low variety and a lot of corn and pellets. I personally wouldn’t use it.

Its not the best food. My boy has it as part of a homemade mix. I'm gradually reducing the amount of it in the mix though as he hardly touches it and doesn't like it very much. He much prefers the seeds I put in and the lab block. All three mice I've owned have been the same.

Thanks everyone! I've definitely had a bad experience with the same brand guinea pig food, left it unopened for maybe 2 months and opened it to find food sticking to the sides as if a bug or parasite had eaten through and upon measuring out some into a feed bin found two small yellowish worms and a few moths! Definitely not keen on that brand much anymore. Do you know of any threads about homemade mixes? Thanks again!

Not sure about other homemade mixes detailed on the website, but this is the one that I've been using. It was recommended to me by the shelter I got my mice from.

https://www.petmousefanciers.com/t2162-wood-green-s-suggested-homemade-mouse-food

The basic ingredients are:

1. 6 scoops rabbit/rat muesli (see suggestions on thread)
2. 1/2 scoop dog kibble or rat nuggets (see suggestions on thread)
3. Handful of healthy treats (e.g. seeds/nuts, dried fruit, banna chips, dog biscuits, dried noodles)
4. 3 scoops healthy, low salt, low sugar breakfast cereal or other grains (see suggestions below)
5. 1/2 scoop uncooked wholemeal pasta

Based on this I'm using (the numbers link up to those above):
1. Reggie Rat/Mini Mouse - 3 scoops currently (gradually reducing this as Basil doesn't like it but I don't want to upset his tummy changing it too fast)
2. Supreme Science Select Lab Block - 1 scoop
3. Safe dried fruits - 1 handful
4. Seed mix (currently pet bird food based with additions for variety) - 4 scoops
5. Wholegrain pasta (uncooked) - 1 scoop

Hope that helps. Not sure where you're based but there are some recommended foods on this website, but I can't remember what they are as they aren't available readily near me (in the UK)...they're listed in the diet thread here:
