leaking water bottle
I bought the Kaytee 9oz chew proof bottle, which is glass and has a ducky in it. Nice quality, but the first night I had it it was consistently dripping a drop every couple of minutes. Then after a couple hour period half of the water had drained somehow and soaked through a good portion of bedding!
I tightened the bottle more and put a plastic container under it and it seems to not be dripping, but I was wondering if anyone else has used this bottle and experienced dripping? Petsmart will let me return it so I'm wondering if I should or if it was just because it wasn't twisted on enough ..

Re: leaking water bottle
Leave it for a few more days, and if it still leaks then return it. But if it's not leaking then it should be fine. I've had 1 or 2 minor dripping issues with the water botltle, nothing big though I haven't tested it, but if you do decide to return the water bottle, National Geographic has a glass water bottle too that might work well. I'm not sure what sizes it comes in though.

@cucumbermouse
Yeah, that's probably the best idea. I actually tightened it so much no water was coming out- I'm glad I noticed. I'm gonna keep a close eye.
And thank you, he was certainly posing, haha.

I actually had the opposite problem with this water bottle. It would randomly stop letting any water out until I tapped the nozzle pretty hard several times. I tried a bunch of different tips I found online to try to fix it and realized it work best when positioned at a certain angle. But it still made me nervous so I stopped using it. It was also suggested to switch the nozzle out for one from another bottle but by that point I had already just switched bottles completely.

Same!! When I first started mouse-keeping, I was using some older bottles that my dad gave me, until I discovered that they were very unreliable. I've obviously bought all new bottles since then, and they work great! I use only one type of bottle in all 7 rodent cages (5 cages of mice, 1 hamster cage, and one quarantine cage), and it has never let me down. It's a cheap bottle too, but so reliable in my experience! It has awful reviews but I've always had excellent experiences with them. I've got 8 of these bottles total (7 in use, one extra) and they all function fine. This is the bottle I use, if anyone is interested : https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/small-animal/you-and-me-water-bottle-smallCallaLily wrote:I actually had the opposite problem with this water bottle. @Callalily and @AnonymousMouseOwner sounds like that bottle is really more work than it's worth! Maybe that's why it was on sale, lol. Thanks for your help and input !!
An update, I went back to petsmart and exchanged it for the other bottle I already have which works super well:

This is because the Kaytee chew proof glass bottle created a mini lake AGAIN and I was lucky I put a plastic box under it. Not sure if the one I got was defective but I won't be buying it again ! And I'd highly recommend the bottle I got which is petsmart off brand and comes with a nice holder so you can easily slip it out, and has a cute flowery design
