Hammock. Empty Hammock.

I'm not sure if they can reach it yet - I'lll lower it if they can't, or add a Popsicle stick ladder or something, but I'll wait and see.
Anyways. Just felt, hot glue, and paper clips - shabby, but they'll like it.
Anyone know how to make Popsicle stick bridges? I can't find one in the MES page that I've seen, and I'd love to hang one from the roof. Also, hot glue cobwebs; I try to pick them all out, but sometimes I miss a few. Are they a hazard?

Fun! I hope your girls will enjoy the hammock. Smile

Here's one way to make a bridge. You fold the string in half and then kind of... weave. I used yarn in these pictures, but don't use yarn. lol

Or you can just glue popsicle sticks to a couple strings.

Maybe someone else has a fun bridge, too!

My previous colony, The Divas, loved their popsicle stick and hemp twine bridge! I simply laid out two long lengths of twine (20L tank) and hot-glued popsicle sticks on both sides of the twine -- the double-side not only made the bridge sturdier but also safer: if a stick hell off on one side, a mouse could not fall through or catch her leg. It was also handy to be able to "flip" the bridge over to use the clean sticks before the whole thing had to be replaced!

I think I've got some hemp twine on hand, actually! I'll have to see about that.
Is all twine safe? Colored, whatever other varieties there may be, I'm not very handy I wouldn't know if there are any varieties, actually...

You can use hemp, jute or sisal twine. I've used colored hemp cord to crochet hammocks (football team colors! lol) but I don't know what they use for dye. It might be better to try for natural, maybe? Pardon

Okay. I asked the owner of the twine and they said "I think its hemp twine" so I'm not sure if I should use it or hold back on it till I know for sure,

UPDATE: Upon further inspection, we decided it might be cotton so I went around digging in the closet and found a roll of your average hemp. Its kind of fray-ie, but I reckon all hemp is.

Question! Do you just simply hot glue it? How'd you get it to stay?

Also, hemp rope seems to have lots of loose strings. Isn't this hazardous?

Hemp twine is perfectly safe. So is jute and sisal. We wouldn't recommend it otherwise. Wink

Yep, just a drop of hot glue on each twine then place the stick and press down for a few seconds!
