Mouseless
My dear sweet Cordelia, 27 months old, passed yesterday evening, leaving me mouseless for the first time in almost 5 years. Until late last week she was doing just fine but suddenly "shut down" and stopped eating and, more importantly, drinking. When I took her out of the tank on Saturday to do a deep clean, her body temperature had dropped to the point she was cool to the touch. I checked her several times each day and, frankly, didn't know whether or not to be grateful she was still breathing -- her time was coming and better sooner and quickly than drawn out. When I checked her last night, she had recently passed.
As I've said in other posts, Cordelia will be my last mouse. My rapidly deteriorating hips and knees make it difficult to stand or move around so simple things like deep cleaning a tank were becoming painful tasks taking three times as long to accomplish. Even though I am and will remain mouseless, I do intend to stick around here as I love to read about others' meecers, hams and gerbils!

Re: Mouseless
Rest in peace Cordelia. She lived to a great age and I'm sure she led a very happy little life. Glad that you'll be sticking around the forum

Re: Mouseless
Sorry to hear about both the loss of your mouse and deteriorating health. Despite my young age, I can actually sympathize a little, as I have juvenile arthritis in my hips and knees.
