Oh, yeah, and they'll get over it. And they will see how happy you are and it will make them happy. You're going to be such a great mouse mom, he's such a lucky guy. Furthermore, you're a good kid and I'm pretty sure you don't get into any trouble. You deserve a mouse.

You're finally getting a mouse! Don't fret that your parents are scared now; we talked a lot about past events, but chin up! You're a different person now! Don't be sad that your parents are hesitant; be happy that ultimately, they trust you, and prove to them how much you've learned and grown! My mom was murophobic until she met my girls; maybe your mom will change too. Smile

And if not, I think she's proved tonight that she cares about you above all else. So be happy for yourself and the little boy you're saving! And make sure to let them know that he might be stinky for the first few days just so they don't panic. Teach them about pet store badness and make sure they know the scent will clear up with good food and clean bedding. Because pet shop funk IS jarring.

One thing though. Apparently I have to find some plan of action to do with my mouse when we're gone for those two weeks over winter break. They've gone off of taking him with because apparently we have to stay at a couple hotels along the way, and obviously I can't just bring him in there. I just emailed my best friend, who likes mice and has a hamster. But I need other options, because who knows what'll happen if she can't take him! She loves just too far away (it's like a 10 min drive one way) to pop in and check up on him every other day :/ So I've got to come up with some ideas, and fast! Lol.

When this happened to you guys, did you wake up at 1:00 in the morning feeling utterly confused?
I feel like it's all coming true and... and I'm not ready.
I'm so scared... I'm scared of failing again.
I'm scared that my mom has such doubts about this.
Some part of me, somewhere... believes it'll work. I know I'd never neglect a mouse.
But... I guess I've just known it as an impossibility for so long... that I'm... I'm so dreadfully afraid of it happening.
I guess it comes down to this: I'm drawn to pets but I'm afraid of them. I'm afraid of more failure. I almost don't know if it's worth it. But surely it is? I've wanted mice since I was like five years old.
I don't understand why my biggest wish coming true feels like a nightmare? I almost... am not sure if I can go through with it. But... on the other hand... surely it'll work?
Cam anyone relate to this feeling right now? I can't even really describe what's going on with me. Agh.
I think I understand Christina Perri's song, Daydream, now. "I'm afraid of my wish coming true." And I have no idea why.
Hopefully this'll all change by the morning.

And, er... I was thinking maybe Marmite, but I'm not sure Smile

Don't be afraid Artist, you'll be a great mouse parent! I know what you mean, getting a new pet that you've never had before is daunting - you can read and learn but the first hands on experience is still a learning curve!

Hopefully your parents will warm up to him! I haven't checked in but I've been excitedly waiting for the story to unfold! I'm happynfor you getting a mouse :-D

This is your opportunity to do things right and have a good experience with an animal. Let go of your fears and enjoy your new little friend. It seems like it is meant to be... things have been falling into place. You're gonna be a great mouse mom and we're here is you need anything.

It sounds like you are having normal anxiety that comes with wanting something and waiting so long, you almost give up. Then it suddenly happens. Your situation happened quick, you didn't have time to prepare. I would be anxious, too. You've been on a roller coaster this week, you'll feel better when you get him home. Then it will be real and you can allow yourself be happy.

Thank you, guys. I just slept a bit and woke up feeling a hundred times more confident. You're right... you described it perfectly, Scaredy and Stephlisa. It's so nerve-wracking, but... I can do it Smile

To be honest though, there is a part of me that wants to call it off because it just... doesn't feel quite right. And I think that's because my dad's not here. He's always been most interested in animals like mice, and not having him here is making me feel really insecure for some reason. I'm almost wondering if I can delay this until after our Florida trip, but of course then I can't get my boy. :/
