Re: Dotty's Litter!!
Here are some updated pictures!! I had such a hard time choosing so there's a bunch. lol I named them after reindeer, but that theme isn't sticking so I'm looking for other options.
Here are the girls.
The PEW boy, currently known as Blitzen. There's something about his face that I just LOVE. And he's such a hoot! He crawled into that TP tube and started rolling around.
I have no idea why those lines show up when I crop.
My favorite broken black boy. He was hard to get good pictures of because of the black background.
And the last boy. He's not too into being handled, by he's a fun one to watch. He'll be going home with one of the rescue staff, but I adopted everyone else.
That TP tube got a big NOPE.

Oh my goodness so cuuuuuuute! They are adorable little babies! I love the fluffy one!
Wow, you're going to adopt all but 1? How many were boys again? That's a lot of tanks!

Re: Dotty's Litter!!
It's only two girls and three boys. I've got my four girls in the 20 gallon (Lulie, Pearl, Yoko and Cora) and two more (Becky and Soong) in a 10 gallon. Dotty and the two baby girls will meet Becky and Soong. Then I have four boys (these two babies, Yoshi, and Frog). Frog will be 2 on the 29th and and Yoshi is 26 months. So it's six tanks, but it won't be forever. And six tanks is nothing compared to some rodent owners!
Anyway, you should have seen my house after my first litters. Between two moms, there were 15 babies, and 7 of them were boys. I also had their dad and had adopted Yoshi a month prior. So 9 tanks of boys and three tanks of girls. Six tanks will be a breeze!

Re: Dotty's Litter!!
Wow! You're gonna be busy!
3 mouse tanks and 1 hamster tank is what I have right now. I think what I have now is my limit, a 40 gallon breeder, a 20 gallon long, a 10 gallon, and a 20 gallon high. My dad and I watch this one person on YouTube, she's got like a million pets lol. Reptiles, small animals, birds, dogs, cats, etc. I don't know how she manages it all. Her walls are just lined with tanks stacked on top of one another, and she's got giant cages in the house for her birds.

Re: Dotty's Litter!!
Such lovely kids! I love the last two broken blacks. Is that broken black girl a longhair?

Re: Dotty's Litter!!
She does have longer hair, but my Yoko had longer hair when she was young too. She kinda outgrew it. I hope this girl won't. I've only ever had one longhaired mouse, my black tan Samson. He only lived a few months though.
Proper names coming soon!

Re: Dotty's Litter!!
Blossom has long hair, but its not as crazy as Rocky's hair. She's had it since she was young, and I've had her a few months. She's still got the long hair, she's never outgrown it! How is it that your mice change so much? Lol, you had a yellow girl that turned brindle and a long hair girl that turned short hairPeachy wrote:She does have longer hair, but my Yoko had longer hair when she was young too. Re: Dotty's Litter!!
She's not short haired, it's just not as noticeable now. Apparently "poor" (not well bred) longhair mice losing some length with age isn't uncommon. Samson didn't lose any length either, though.
But I don't know why my mice change so much. Lol! The yellow that turned brindle turned yellow again, and now she's brindle again.

Re: Dotty's Litter!!
Interesting. Most of my mice are from a local pet shop and they have SO much variety. Broken blacks, yellows, PEWS, BEWS, broken browns, brindles, doves, siamese, long hair, short hair, almost any color or coat you can ask for. I got Rocky there, and his coat is major long. Scout, Blossom, Rocky, Daisy, and Lilac are all from there. Their mice seem to always be really healthy and happy too. I doubt they breed them well on purpose, but their mice seem to have pretty good lines for pet shop mice. I believe they get them from a breeder, because they always talk about getting "shipments" of mice. But whether its a good or bad breeder, I don't know. The same mice are sold as feeders, too, and I can't imagine them selling mice from a good breeder for that purpose. Who knows. All I know is they have really pretty, healthy mice.Peachy wrote:She's not short haired, it's just not as noticeable now. Re: Dotty's Litter!!
Ee, I'll clarify that to mice that haven't specifically been bred to retain their long hair. I wouldn't think health has much to do with hair length, and not all imperfect coats are badly bred.Peachy wrote:Apparently "poor" (not well bred) longhair mice losing some length with age isn't uncommon.
Lucky you!!! I wish any of the stores near me had such a variety! That sounds wonderful. The store that does have a bit of variety (not Petco or PetSmart) mainly sells for feeders and keeps terribly crowded mixed tanks.

Re: Dotty's Litter!!
Well, by local, I mean 50 minutes away. A 50 minute drive away though, there's that pet store, PetSmart, PetCo and another smaller chain. I really like that one pet store though when I'm getting mice, because of their healthy lines and variety. They overprice the supplies, but their pet selection is amazing.

Re: Dotty's Litter!!
I've had the worst time naming my most recent mice, I don't know why. That's usually my specialty. I don't know if I was because I still really missing Goose and Olivia... I've been through tons of names for Fancy Pants and Freckles. They are ok... but they don't fit right. Lately, I've been calling Freckles- Shuggie. As is Shug Knight. Because she was such a gangster when I introduced her to the girls. So, she's Shug White. And my boy Fancy Pants, he's a strange one. If you set him down anywhere, he flattens out into a pancake. and instead of walking around like a normal mouse, she sort of slides and slithers in stealth mode. So funny. I still don't know what his name is. I would just call him pancake but I already call my chinchilla pancake. Sigh.
Names are hard sometimes!

This is what I call my youngest son, though I spell it Sug/Suggie because for him it started out calling him Sugar Booger, then that turned into Sugary, then Suggie or just Sug. Though sometimes I sing Sug Sug Sur-ee to the tune of Chim Chim Cher-ee to him. He hates it now but it's habit.
Sorry for off topic.
