I just ordered a new mouse cage. It's roomy enough for nine mice! I'm so excited. It's going to be a long wait though, the estimated delivery date is between 2/8 and 2/24. Gives me time to buy/find/make a bunch of accessories! Bouncy

Been painting the wooden shelves in Colin's new cage with paint that was recommended across a variety of forums as protecting from urine soaking in (Plasti-Kote, really easy to use)! Its nearly ready for him to have! His birthday is this week, I'm so excited!

Which PlastiKote enamel are you using? The Projekt Paint or the Odds 'n' Ends? I've wanted to safely coat Imogene's wooden platform/hide and have wondered what product would be OK. Which color did you pick for Colin?

I used the project paint. I also used the brush on version rather than the spray version because I couldn't find out if the spray version was safe.
I went for clear because I like the look of the wooden shelves, although it was hard to tell if I'd covered it all!

I've always read to stick with the brush on version, though I couldn't tell you why. I have some wooden shelves that I've been wanting to seal so I can use them but I never get around to it. It's only been about a year. Paper Bag

Yeah, I haven't been able to find out why the brush on is best either, but its very low odour paint so you don't have to wait ages for it to stop smelling. Easy to use too - dries very fast! My only thought was if the spray version had some ingredients to make it more suitable for spraying that are harmful to little mice lungs. Having studied Chemical Engineering you have to make the spraypaints and brush paints with a different set of requirements - spray wants to spray out evenly and be suitable for forcing through a nozzle whereas brush on wants to be easy to spread around!
Slowly been kitting out the new cage, its not yet complete but it looks very exciting, definitely a mansion! He's going to be allowed in on Thursday - I can't wait!

Watching my great nephews today and for the first time they took interest in the mice. They dropped in some treats and watched them for a little while. L, the youngest, kept excitedly calling out "dog-dog!" K would say, "No, Bubby. Mouse!"

I got it on Amazon (UK site naturally). I had a look on the amazon.com for you and its really expensive! You'll probably be able to get something similar in a DIY store, but obviously you don't necessarily know if they are all safe...

I was busy tonight! I made egg carton pinatas for Scout, Rocky, and the girls. Made a toilet paper tube toy for my hammy, and also made Rocky a fake friend Smile

I need to make a little fake friend for my little man mouse. My little hammie died... which is very sad... but that opened up a 20 gallon tank. So mouseman got an upgrade from a 10g to a 20g long. So, he's happy. But I think he would benefit from a little fake friend. He's so darn shy! I don't think he's depressed at all but he's always hiding, I hardly ever see him doing anything!
