Garcia has not one, not two -- but three tumors. There is nothing they can do. She's on painkillers to keep her comfortable, prescribed by our vet. One is larger on her throat (causing some breathing difficulties already), one on her shoulder and one on her stomach near her leg.

The tumor on her throat is no doubt, the one causing the most problems. I know she'll probably have to be euthanized when it gets too difficult for her to breathe and live comfortably.

How do you know, however, when it's time to have them put to sleep? When do you know when it's gotten too difficult for them? I was given a few tips already but I'd like to hear some people with more mouse experience.

I'm also not entirely happy with the fact that she would die in a vets office and not safe at home. That said I don't think there's a safw way to euthanize at home...is there? I don't really know for sure.

She's been a lovely mouse to have around and she's such a trooper when it comes to getting her medicine. I want her to be comfortable.

There are safe ways to euthanize at home; I could search for the link and send it to you privately if you'd like. I haven't done it myself but I have heard that it's humane and far cheaper than getting it done at a vet. Plus, like you said, she would be able to pass away at home.

Please do. If she doesn't go tonight, I think she needs to go. I realized how thin she was tonight (she has fluffy hair) and I can't keep her like this. I'm fairly certain she'll go tonight, on her own, but if not. Sad

Garcia passed away on her own this afternoon. I'll write a memorial for her soon. Thank you for the support.
