Rapid flicking of the tail? Empty Rapid flicking of the tail?

I have noticed that anytime Skye is out of the tank, she goes up against a wall and rapidly flicks her tail up against it. Is this is a problem?

Sounds like tail rattling. It means she's really annoyed or irritated. So long as she's not rattling at you, it's best to just let her be and don't worry about it.

They do that as a warning when they are a little scared or angry. She might just not be comfortable with being away from home yet! Is she a young mouse? Or could she be smelling something unfamiliar like another pet or person?

She is quite a nervous mouse, so that may be the case. She never does it on me, she just does it up against walls and stuff.

It's analogous to a cat hissing. They get spooked so easily. If I walk by the tank to fast, Bitsy will still rattle her tail.

I think it's when they feel threatened, scared or annoyed, so they try and make a loud noise to say "I'm a big bad mouse, be warned". She's probably doing it because she feels less confident out of her own territory.

Ellie always does that against the glass if her sister tries to steal food from her! I actually find it quite funny sometimes.
