My young mouse has lost weight
My 2 month old female mouse has recently lost a concerning amount of weight. She acts very healthy and has shown no decline in health or signs of illness. She has a beautiful, groomed coat, eats and drinks heartily, and is very active. When I got her a month ago, she was 0.7 OZ and I have weighed her regularly ever since. She had grown to 1.1 OZ by a week ago, but yesterday, I noticed she looked thinner and felt lighter to pick up. She had dropped down to 0.8 OZ last night and is 0.9 now. I gave her a tiny amount of rodent steroids I got from the vet yesterday and this morning, so hopefully it helps her gain weight, and I may start feeding her goat milk. Are there any health problems she could have that only involve weight loss? Like I said, she has no signs of being sick and has gained since yesterday, but it's still very concerning that she lost weight in the first place. Thanks for any help

Hello,
It's concerning that your 2-month-old female mouse has experienced significant weight loss despite appearing healthy otherwise. While she may seem active and groomed, there could be underlying health issues that aren't immediately apparent. Weight loss in rodents can result from various factors, including parasites, dental problems, digestive issues, or metabolic disorders. It's a positive step that you consulted with a vet and provided steroids, but it's essential to continue monitoring her closely. Additionally, consult your vet for a comprehensive examination, as they may recommend further diagnostic tests and a specialized diet to address any underlying health concerns and ensure her well-being.

Re: My young mouse has lost weight
Hi, thanks for your comment! Thankfully, my mouse regained her health and is doing amazingly now. She is now 1.5 oz and not at all underweight. She is very active, busy, and in very good health.
