Is shrimp safe?
I have Zoo Med sun-dried Red Shrimp that I'd love to use as a lower fat alternative to mealworms because I can't find dried crickets, I just don't know if they're safe. Hamster forums seem to think river shrimp are great, but I can't find anything about red shrimp in particular.
I also want to hear your thoughts on an entirely homemade diet. I still use oxbow as a portion of my mix so the protein is 13%. I'm just not happy with oxbows ingredients and would rather not include it, but I'm worried about them lacking it's added vitamins.

Yes, the shrimp you have is safe. My mice all seemed to like it well enough too.
IMO, oxbow’s mouse food is junk. From what I remember their adult rat food has better ingredients. I much preferred Supreme Science Selective (Mouse or Rat) to round out a good seed mix.
